Free Tutorial - To knit a colourful Striped Cowl


This is an easy knitting project using a garter stitch (all knit stitches). The gorgeous colourful stripes in the cowl is easily achieved by following the instructions below. Great project to knit this Christmas sat in front of the TV watching your favourite films.


Wear it wrapped round in different directions each day to show off all the different colours














For this project you will need:
2 x 50 gram balls of Adriafil Azzurra 4 Ply in each of the colours shown here.



Azzurra is a high quality yarn made from a classic blend of wool and acrylic.  It comes in a wide variety of colours to suit all tastes.

1 pair of 4.5 mm needles.
Large eyed needle & scissors

INSTRUCTIONS















Step 1:  Cast on 50 stitches using 1 strand of orange and 1 strand of pink yarn.  Knit for 7.5” / 19cm

Step 2: Change to 1 strand of pink and 1 strand of purple yarn and knit for
9” / 23cm

 Step 3: Change to 2 strands of pink yarn and knit for 2.5” / 6cm

Step 4: Change to 1 strand of pink and 1 strand of purple yarn and knit for 1.5” /  4cm

Step 5: Change to 2 strands of purple yarn and knit for 1.5” / 4cm

Step 5: Change to 1 strand of purple and 1 strand of turquoise yarn and knit for 5.5” / 14cm

Step 6: Change to 2 strands of turquoise yarn and knit for 4” / 10cm

Step 7: Change to 1 strand of turquoise and 1 strand of light blue yarn and knit for 3.5” / 9cm

Step 8: Change to 1 strand of light blue and 1 strand of purple yarn and knit for 2.5” / 6cm

Step 9: Change to 2 strand of purple yarn and knit for 3.5” / 9cm

Step 10: Change to 1 strand of purple and 1 strand of orange yarn and knit for 5” / 13cm

Step 11: Change to 2 strands of orange yarn and knit for 2” / 5cm

Step 12: Change to 1 strand of orange and 1 strand of pink yarn and knit for 1” / 2.5cm

Step 13: Change to 1 strand of pink and 1 strand of turquoise yarn and knit for 2.5” / 6cm

Step 14: Change to 2 strands of turquoise yarn and knit for 7” / 18cm

Step 15: Change to 1 strand of turquoise and 1 strand of purple yarn and knit for 1.5” / 4cm

Step 16: Change to 2 strands of purple yarn and knit for 2” / 5cm

Step 17: Change to 1 strand of purple and 1 strand of light blue yarn and knit for 1.5” / 4cm

Step 18: Change to 2 strands of light blue yarn and knit for 2” / 5cm

Step 19: Change to 1 strand of light blue and 1 strand of pink yarn and knit for 1.5” / 4cm

Step 20: Cast off and leave a long end.

Step 21: Sew all ends in apart from the long end left on when casting off

Step 22: Blanket stitch the cast on and the cast off edges together

Do not block or Steam Iron this cowl.
